A few months ago, the guys at Intrigue Chocolate Company started a Kickstarter campaign to revitalize their logo and packaging.
Originally, Intrigue’s delectable truffles were half-round shapes, all snug in multi-colored foil wrappers. They were placed in handy, reusable tins, which made a lovely display for these morsels of Heaven.
But after a few years, it was time for the company logo and packaging to take on a more sophisticated look to match its quality and taste.
As a big fan of Intrigue, I pitched in and got a lovely pack that was like winning the lottery. It included a 12-truffle sampler pack, cocoa mix, 2 truffle bars, whole cacao beans and a silky soft Intrigue T-shirt (not pictured).
Instead of waiting for my beloved prize to be shipped to me, I opted to get it in person.
Mr. Intrigue himself, Aaron Barthel, welcomed us and indulged us with some samples. While we were there, a customer stopped in, as she was in search of chocolate shops in Seattle.
The customer seemed a little perplexed, as Intrigue doesn’t look like your typical chocolate shop. For those who enjoy the “behind-the-scenes” aspect, this is what you will get when you visit Intrigue. As you walk through the door, you’re in the kitchen where Aaron’s creations are born.
You’ll know you’re in the right place when you see the sign posted outside the door (there’s also one downstairs).
I also learned recently that Intrigue is now featured in the Seattle by Foot tour. So, you have the option of bravely checking it out yourself, or stop in with the always fun guides at Seattle by Foot.
One word of caution though: When you buy the chocolate, they are sealed tight with a cold pack. Yes, it protects the truffles from melting, but dang, it also makes it so difficult to get your chocolate fix! 🙂 Since I was on vacation, I didn’t have the proper tools to pry the package open. So, sadly, I had to wait until I got home (the most excruciating 5 days ever!).
I tried to make the 12-piece truffles last as long as possible. But it just was impossible to do. I blinked and they were gone. And, nope, I didn’t even share.
And the truffle bars — forget about it! I tried to be demure and slice small pieces. And I did. Then I’d take another slice. And another. And another. And so on and so forth.
The truffle bars are like silk. They are a refreshing treat after a long day at work.
They make great gifts too. I suggest that if you want to get one, get two. Why? Because you’ll definitely want one for yourself!
